The Introduction, Classics of Eastern 'Loong'

Loong, is a sort of fantastical beast, a sort of spirit, which is fairly clear.

Some people raise it and disturb it, and some people slaughter it and make it into meat. It is because it can disturb people that it can be slaughtered and made into meat. However, this theory is a bit strange. If it had not come from clan Zuo Qiu, how could it not be rejected as absurd and fabricated?

Zhou Gong (an ancient Saint) compiled I Ching (the Book of Changes) and compared the loong to the Saint, saying that it could dive or fly, depending on its need.

The five ways of heavenly virtue are all represented by this. The loong is the leader of the scaly insects. The lady loong is the leader of the scaly insects.

The Buddhists have the Dragon King Sutra, which is mostly written to pray for rain. But our Confucian scholars have never had a specialized book.
