Alila Yangshuo Hotel is located in a valley beside the Li River in Yangshuo County, Guilin City, Guangxi Province, one of the most representative areas of karst landforms.

The site is rich in natural landscapes and retains the old sugar factory built in the 1960s and the industrial trusses used for sugarcane transportation at the same time.

In order to protect the ecological environment of the Li River, the old sugar factory was stopped in the 1980s, but fortunately its buildings were preserved intact. In the social context of slowing economic growth, we regard the old sugar factory as a living memory and emotional carrier of a generation, and define it as the core leader in the future hotel building community.

The new building has a simple appearance and is restrained as much as possible to avoid interference with the old building due to its overly explicit expression. At the same time, the new building is strictly controlled to be lower than the old factory building, and the sloped roof form and roof angle of the old sugar factory are used, so that the new and old buildings evolve and change in an unified order.
